Sample fun

I cut up some of the EM samples to make the drums for this.

It's just an idea, and it's not exactly a 3/4 concrete piece. We could expand on it, edit it or throw it in the virtual bin. Let us know what you think either way.

  1. Hi Chris,

I think it sounds fantastic! Is a well good starting point. We could find some more drummy sounds in E.M. to give it a bit more of a punch. I miss though a longer track from the fader test recordings, especially those with crazy panning. I don't know where it will feet? maybe in the drop...

What is the lead melody? is it also something from our recordings?
And the reverb? is it from logic? I think we could manage to get a good reverb effect in the metal room feeding the track through a guitar amp or a monitor (or maybe both) and record it with a couple of 414 or coles. Just to give it more E.M. touch.

  3. Thanks Jordi, the synths and reverb are all from Ableton, I kept the bpm the same as the logic session we had running. So if needs be it can all easily be bounced out into Logic with or without reverb.

Although I would suggest that we get this finished as soon as we can, bv the end of next Wednesday preferably. We can draw a line under it and get on with the other 2 songs which I think will take more time and effort.

The band and or choir really need to in on Wednesday to stand a chance of doing a decent job by the deadline

  4. Totally agree. But we still have 4 E.M. sessions to go on wednesdays.

The choir will be something completely outside E.M. as I would prefer to record it in a nice location, so that give us 4 sessions to share between the E.M. concrete and the band.

Although I will be up to make a planning for the next session so that we get maximum profit of our sessions.
I really fancy experiment with the metal room or the plate reverb in E.M. to get a reverb effect.
Also I would prefer that all the sounds of the song are coming from our recordings in E.M. so we would have to find a sound to reproduce the lead synth: maybe more feedbacks or pitch the ones that we already have and sample them, ESX24 is really good for that.

  5. I agree with Jordie the songs entirety made from confetti, also it will be all recorded by the end of next sesh. then it just takes a person or two to edit on a mac. while the rest of the group crack on with the other recrodings.

  6. I also think as much of it as possible should be done with stuff from Confetti, however I also think that it my sound a bit thin on the ground without a pad and or lead. They don't have to be the focus of course, but I don't think we should limit ourselves.

Running everything through the plate would be a great thing to do, even if the sound itself doesn't originate from there.

The kick drum sound in this needs some work, although the sort of afro-beat sound it has right now is growing on me.
